I have been hearing different kinds of music since so many days and could not find anything which touched my heart and gave me a sense of belonging, but after hearing NADAKA i have found it. Keep it up.
Sian - Buckinghamshire, England - 2008-10-30

Beautiful web site Nadaka. Your music continues to inspire me and feed my soul and I always, always want to dance when I hear it. It's been a while since I lived in Auroville and could hear your music live but it's played on my iPod every day. You have captured something magical, ephemeral and yet so tangible to the soul. Make more music. It is such a gift to the world.
christopher - los angeles - 2008-10-30

Hi Nadaka, Thank you for your great sounds! Your compositions, melodies and timbre are very inspirational! I am a guitarist studying Indian music and you inspire me to keep redefining what the instrument is and what it can become Namaste, christopher

I had sampled the "Living Colours" online 2 years ago. Tried desperately to get my hands on it through many stores but in vain. This year while in India, I made it a point to visit Pondicherry and picked up all of Nadaka's CDs. They are an immense source of aural pleasure transporting the listener to uncharted territories of the divinity. May God bless him further as he continues to be prolific in his musical endeavours, bridging and linking humanity to the Eternal Consciousness.

Dear Nadaka, I am just listening to Mandalam. BLOWN away is putting it lightly. I was going to ask WHO is doing the vocal because I am not used to the deep notes but that is SO you! Brilliant. Amrita has been replaced as my favourite! When am I going to be able to purchase an autographed album, eh? Your fan, Stef
lisa jane - liverpool - 2007-05-09

Nadaka, what a truely beautiful story. Having watched the videos on your site today - which blew me away (i loved the relationship between you and the brothers you played with - a rare sight in other forms of music) - it was then great to hear the journey and how your meetings and experience unfolded as a musician. Fantastic! Keep blending the grooves into the kosmos. love lisa
Reeja - Singapore - 2007-05-02

I came across your album, Celebration, very recently. It s wonderful to know that bonafide musicians still exist now; when music has been endowed with much negativity for the sole purpose of commercialism. I wish you well in your journey of music. God bless you.
Arun Rakesh - Chicago - 2007-03-13

Awesome. I am in a trance - like an anachronism into time in a place mystical and magical and mellow and marvelous. Thanks for the moment of subtle mood changes into a place surreal and long sought. Great stuff.

An awesome music! It breathes fresh air into my mind everytime I listen to (Celebration)
Georges TAREAU - Ste MAXIME ( France ) - 2006-07-16

Dis notre gratitude a tes musiciens .

MERCI

I first heard your music at the Tsunami relief concert in Auroville while visiting a friend, Dhruv Bhasker in January. I can't describe how much I enjoyed your music specially the Hamsa Leela piece, which I've heard is by far the most well known. I still listen to the CD I bought and it makes me smile every time. Thank you for this beautiful music you've created!
Nishant - Mumbai, India / Montreal, Canada - 2005-02-15

I first got introduced to your music with "Living Colors" that was the time when I was getting introduced to Classical fusion and rest as they say is history. Your music is such an inspirator and calmer, I haven't found such solence from any where else. Moods do differ but the mode remains the same. I am so much looking forward to listen to your music live and possiblely meet you. Is there a way to know about your live performances?
On another note looking forward to listening to your new compositions ...

Thanks for the music
Samin Karim - Melbourne, Australia - 2005-02-15

Hello,

Your music is beautiful and soothing. I must say that your improvisation is remarkable. It is a contrast to Shakti, also a fabulous group, in that it is more mellow and soft.

Well done!

I was introduced to your music by Suraj recently and have become "hooked" on it. All of your collaborators share with you a unique sensibility for the unlimited universe of musical sounds, echos and silences. To be able to follow where the music goes, without restriction, bias, or fear is a quality unparalled in human experience. What an unbelievably wild experience. I'm in the process of learning as much as possible about the Indian musical modes and instruments. A hunger for this knowledge began whewn I was an undergrad at Purdue University in the late 50's and early 60's. Pundit Ravi Shankar came to Purdue in concert and his music captured my interest, fascination and eventually my heart. Now that I am a senior person, I can devote a bit more time to that which is most appealing to myself. That, of course, is music and the appreciation of music with those who echo my interests. Your website provides a broader base for sharing than I have had. My thanks to you from my heart. Your devotion is a model for us all.

Suraj - Irvine, CA - 2005-02-15

Nadaka, really glad to notice your presence online. In my opinion, both, your online presence and the tasteful presentation does justice to your talent and work.

Firstly, should say that your web-site is elegant and soulful...characterisitic of the very music you play. 'Earthy' colours that remind me of the dark soil of the Deccan plateau. Even noticed the change of black-n-white photo-thumbnails in your 'Snapshots' to colour when highlighted! Neatly done. ;8-)

I heard you first in 1995 (I think) at IIT-Madras. Before the concert, it was a tough choice for me between a inter-hostel cricket match and your concert! Within 10 minutes of hearing you and Ganesh and Kumaresh with Shivmani, I knew I was at the right place. The 'Straight from the Heart' cassette I bought at the end of the concert has, for the last decade or so (!), been one of my favourite albums, firstly because I love it so much and secondly because if the tape wore out, I didn't know where I could get hold of another!!

But yeah, truly enjoyed the concert...still remember the way Ganesh and Kumaresh gave 'character' to their violins, like it had a soul of its own. Very organic fusion indeed.

Also, I think that very little tasteful fusion of Indian Carnatic and Western music is out there. Being from South India myself, I savor the fusion compositions of Illayaraja, Prasanna and yours. Liked the samples of 'Living Colours' and some others as well. Thanks for posting samples longer than the customary 30 seconds!

Anyways, thought I write a few lines on how much I appreciate your compositions, music and in particular, your choice of collaborators! Keep up it going and God bless.

~suraj

Abhinandan - London, United Kingdom - 2005-02-15

Hello!

My name is Abhinandan. I hail from the country that has fascinated you so much....I belong to South India; come from the city of Madras.

I was going through some websites searching for interesting reading on Indian music. I found your site and must confess that I am absolutely fascinated by your dedication to the art of Indian classical music. Truly remarkable sir. Its interesting to know that a person of foreign origin such as you has found so much interest in the tradition of good Indain classical music. It seems to me that you have decided to make India your home. It is an irony however that several youth of our own country dont see the importance of the art. Quite a pity indeed.

As for myself, I am a student pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry in University College London. I lived in India for 24 years before coming to the west for higher education. I trained in Carnatic music for almost 10 years during my younger days. Music is an integral part of my life today....and I am always eager to meet scholars who can talk endlessly on the subject. I'd like to meet you sometime.

I find it immensely gratifying to have chanced upon a visit to your site and will recommend it to a few of my friends who are very passionate about Indian music.

Thank you very much for hosting this website. Its a real pleasure to know of persons like you.

Best wishes,
Abhinandan

Dear Sir,
Well, I Wish you same. Kindly send me your opinion on the following subjects
1.How many Shrutis are in South Indian Karnatic music
2.Wether you are singing in this geometrical basis? If so what are the units of all the Shrutis
3. What are the English letters for Sapthaswarangal .i.e.Sa,Ri,Ga,Ma,Pa,Dha,and Ni?
Thanking you, S.ANSAR.

Soul stirring. Thats what I would say.
Words cannot express how and what I feel when I listen to this music.
Nadaka - Auroville - 2005-02-15

Welcome to my new site; on line this first day of the New Year 2005.

A year of hope and realization, I like to think, after the tragic ending of this past year.
On what seemed to be quiet Sunday morning; disaster struck a couple of kilometres down the road and we could hardly believe it when we heard that a giant wave had just hit the coast so near to us, leaving behind massive destruction. Many of our friends lost everything in a matter of seconds... but miraculously not their lives!

The initial shock was followed by confusion, as I found out during my first ride down towards the sea when I got caught in between hundreds of people who were running up the road in panic with the news that a second Bigger wave would hit the coast again. It didn,t come, but this strange state of uncertainty went on for days as bad news poured in from other parts of south-east Asia and the coastal population stood in a state of helplessness.

While most of us were only witness to the disaster, We were left hanging in a strange state of mind that made every day seem hard and heavy.
Nothing of course compared to the immense pain suffered by those who lost their children and close ones.

So for a moment,Time stood still and the concerts that had been scheduled for the new year were cancelled . Understandably to many, Music seemed out of place and superflous at this time of emergency .

Then, the Idea came to offer a benefit concert which gave me a renewed sense of purpose. A small yet meaningful contribution to the solid relief effort that the Auroville community has been giving the tsunami victims.

The response to the Idea has been more than positive with people coming from all sides to help prepare the event and make it into a beautiful musical happening.
Life must go on,.
And where life goesÖthere is always music.

I receive mails from around the world from individuals who feel touched by my music. Some describe it in ways that I find most inspiring; Others just say it in few words of simple appreciation.

Which ever way, I am always happy to read them.

I hope that you enjoy going through these pages and I invite you to share your thoughts and comments here below.

Nadaka
